Um "coming of age " com ares gótico que se passa na Escócia num período do pós guerra. O inusitado aqui é a protagonista já começar morta.Uma curta trajetória de memórias,observações da natureza e animais, familia e e outras inusitadas amizades com referências de arte ,literatura, música que formam o mundo solitário de Janet 16 anos.
Esses momentos reflexivos de Janet são o mais bonito, talvez tenha nascido no lugar e na hora errada, era cheia de vida, inteligente para um lugar tão " patriarcal " e tradicional.

Um lugar lindo pra se viver e morrer...pobre Janet.
