The Professor—the first novel Brontë completed, the last to be published—is both a disturbing love story and the coming-of-age tale of a self-made man. At its center is William Crimsworth, who has come to Brussels to work as an instructor in a school for girls. When he becomes entangled with Zoräide Reuter, a charismatic and brilliantly intellectual woman, the fervor of her feelings threatens both her own engagement and William's chance of finding true love.

Bom

O livro se inicia de uma forma lenta, mas aos poucos ganha vida e se torna uma leitura empolgante, a ponto de você não querer desgrudar do livro.
Mas quando está chegando na reta final ele volta a ser lento a ponto de se tornar entediante.

A personagem que mais aparece durante a leitura, sem dúvida é a Miss Caroline, e será por ela que a maioria dos leitores vai se interessar.

Miss Shirley, demora a aparecer e quando aparece, apesar de ser uma personagem que também tem o seu destaque, deixa muito a desejar.

Por tanto, fica aqui o meu protesto: o livro deveria se chamar Miss Caroline.

O final foi tão sem graça e forçado, na minha opinião, que não fez jus ao enredo.

Mas pela empolgação que tive em boa parte do livro, acho que valeu a leitura.
