Published in 1818, Persuasion was Jane Austen’s last completed novel. In this compelling love story, Anne Elliott is unhappy and unmarried at twenty-seven. At the urging of her family, she broke her engagement to the man she loved eight years before because he was poor and didn’t have good family connections. When they meet again, he is wealthy, a captain in the navy, and looking for a wife, but he has not forgiven Anne for her rejection and resolves not to fall in love with her again.

O último livro da minha releitura da obra de Jane Austen, também o último livro que li no meu primeiro encontro com a autora, e o último livro terminado por ela. É um livro mais maduro, não só por ter ma heroína bem mais velha, mas por ter uma história focada no arrependimento, no amadurecimento, no olhar para o passado. Wentworth é um verdadeiro herói e talvez o melhor personagem desse livro, ele sofreu e não esconde, tenta machucar a quem o machucou, mas perdoa, se arrepende, é hum... leia mais
