Stone Butch Blues têm como personagem principal Jess, que vive à margem da sociedade da cidade de Buffalo nos EUA, durante as décadas de 1950, 60 e 70, por ser uma pessoa que subverte os padrões binários de gênero (homem x mulher).
Fazendo um paralelo com a Cultura Brasileira, Jess seria chamada de "sapatão caminhoneira", e o livro traz com grande profundidade todas as lutas que uma pessoa como a Jess precisa assumir para conseguir... apenas sobreviver.
Foi um dos poucos livros que já me fez chorar e rir sozinha apenas com a leitura. Acredito que isso se deu pelo nível de sensibilidade que a história traz, e também porque identifiquei a história porque é uma história de pessoas como eu: foram elas que precederam o que eu vivo hoje, pois eu me pareço com Jess em relação às questões de genero.
Simplesmente maravilhoso!
