[About the Author]: S. E. Hinton is the author of a number of bestselling and beloved books for young adults, including THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW; RUMBLE FISH, TEX, and of course, THE OUTSIDERS, which was written when she was just 16 years old. She has also written several picture books, a collection of short stories, and a novel for adults. She lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma--the setting of THE OUTSIDERS--with her husband. When she is not writing, she enjoys riding horses.

Minha amiga Camila me indicou esse livro e não esquecerei dele muito cedo. Escolhi ler em inglês para treinar essa língua e posso dizer que a escrita é bem tranquila de entender! Apesar de se passar nos anos 60, a história continua atual ao se basear muito nas relações humanas durante a juventude. Cada personagem possui uma característica que você consegue identificar também nas pessoas ao seu redor e isso só deixa tudo mais emocionante. O laço de amizade entre Pony e Johnny, a intensa relação familiar entre Darry, Soda e Pony, a lealdade de Dally… Os pensamentos de Ponyboy são bem explorados, com partes em que você o entende e outras que dão certa aflição já que, sendo tão novo, ele não entende muito como certas coisas são. Lágrimas derramaram (spoiler alert) na linda carta de Johnny e posteriormente na trágica morte de Dally (essa última foi a minha página preferida do livro).
