A good ending, but still not enough
DotSQ is certainly a good continuation to DotPK, I have to admit. Many authors can't make a duology, trilogy or a whole series without making it seems like there's a lot, or at least something, missing. Could read both in 7h and in one sitting.
Although the plot is as good as the first book, I can't help but feel like it was rushed. Really, really rushed.
In one second, Alosa and her crew get the last part of the map so easily that makes me itchy for something more for it. Like maybe a fighting or more obstacles to actually get it. Then, suddenly, we discover why her father didn't want her into his office. Her mother was there, trapped. The Siren Queen is freed by her and Riden, and she's the reason why the Ava-lee and its crew are on the run, but she just swims away, to not be seen again in a good, good while.
There are many obstacles in their travel to the Isla de Canta, but it didn't feel like that much.
Character development I still think it was a thing. We do get to know a little bit more about some of them, but not much, and definitely not enough to make an opinion about them.
Meeting the sirens seemed to be something exciting too, but in the end it was pretty much lacking. One small meeting with them, no big interaction or anything.
A good point was Alosa overcoming her fear if the ocean and her siren side, learning on the way that it's Riden's love for her and her love for him that made possible for her to not become what she most feared.
I'm a angst lover, so that may be the reason why I thought it was lacking in some bits, but it was a still good read.
